What's Underneath the Terms?

Yesterday, in Questioning Distractions, I wrote the following question.

"Us getting distracted. Is that an indicator of something bigger?"

I realized it's a vague question and I will elaborate on it in this one.

From what I've learned is that whenever terming a feeling, we may not accurately describe the essence and the emotions attached to it.

We think it is something because we've been taught it feels a certain way and when we do experience that feeling, we immediately give it the term we learned from others.

A common example I can think of is experiencing temporary downfall of pleasure and calling it depression.

In the question, what I meant by "indicator of something bigger" is that frequently getting distracted might be a sign of another underlying cause of it we're currently not aware of and solving that problem requires self-reflection in order to pin point exactly what it is that's making you feel attracted to the distractions. It could be a reason as simple as getting anxious about what's to come or not having an idea about practical and actionable steps of how to proceed from where you are right now.

If you're getting distracted, find the underlying cause. What if you're terming it wrong and the problem is deeper than you think?
