On Repetition
We know the effects of compounding. Be it your money, knowledge, accumulation of information. Compounding multiplies all exponentially.
Compounding is the repetition of incrementing/decrementing of a value.
In terms of finance, repetition is what helps us create wealth. When it comes to learning, repetition of practice becomes the key to mastery.
It's not only repetition of deliberate practice through which we learn but also certain experiences linked together and repeated over time that can teach us exponentially as we're hit with sudden realizations after a point of time.
I think therapy sessions, freewriting may make you aware of patterns of experiences and you build yourself on top of that.
Getting back to how learning works with repetition, it also facilitates the transfer of knowledge from our conscious mind to our subconscious mind. Once a set of new information is fed within subconscious, the next time we make use of it, it comes naturally to us and we start to explore further branches of that existing information.
It's like stacking of information. New information gets added on to the existing stack of knowledge living in your subconscious mind. I know, this is not a very technical explanation to it but I'm sure it's enough to make us realize the importance of repetitions and patterns in life.
Where else do we see patterns? Music!
Different layers of sound coming together creating a beautiful pattern that colors time.
Repetition of patterns creating or adding up to a stack. That's progress, isn't it?
